AEW has a lot of talented wrestlers under contract on its roster in addition to the ROH roster. While AEW has been criticized at times for not using certain stars as often as they would like such as Miro, Andrade, and others, there is one star who has been off television, but not due to the lack of creative in place by the promotion.
RUSH made a name for himself while working in MLW, NJPW, CMLL, and Ring of Honor. Last May at Double or Nothing, Rush started working for AEW where he aligned with Andrade El Idolo as his business partner. He signed a deal that September.
RUSH, who recently announced his departure from AAA, last competed on the May 24th episode of AEW Rampage when he teamed Preston Vance and Dralistico against Billy Gunn and The Acclaimed.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that RUSH has been out of action of late due to what was said to be fixing visa issues. He also noted that there has been “a lot of talk in Mexico regarding Rush and Andrade of late.”
Meltzer added, “RUSH’s contract was a one-year deal and believed to be up soon,” and “when RUSH said he quit AAA this past week, there was talk of it opening the door to trying to talk with WWE.”
Meltzer noted the story is WWE won’t attempt the risk of tampering by talking with RUSH right now because of the ongoing MLW lawsuit where MLW alleged that WWE violated the Sherman Antitrust Act in the US market for pro wrestling content in addition to various other things.
Thus, any talk of RUSH going to WWE “should be considered theoretical.” For now, it’s a wait-and-see situation.
As previously reported, AEW is in talks to sign The Elite and Hangman Page to new deals.
