There seems to be a lot of smoke to the CM Punk-AEW rumors. In fact, it looks like he has either signed a deal or is very close to signing.
As noted earlier, Punk did not shut down the story regarding his talks with AEW and a post on his Instagram Stories seems to hint that he may be appearing at the AEW All Out pay-per-view on September 5.
Dave Meltzer noted on the Wrestling Observer Forum that there are things going on behind the scenes in AEW that suggest that if Punk isn’t signed then at least there is an understanding that he is with them.
Meltzer noted that there have been “talks about certain dates” with Punk, which is an indication that things are pretty far along or he has signed.
Meltzer stated, “Things going on behind the scenes as far as talks about certain dates and such make me think if this isn’t signed, they have an understanding and unless [there is] a blow up, it’s happening..”
