Backstage News On Bobby Lashley’s AEW Status

Many people expected to see former WWE star Bobby Lashley make his promotional debut at AEW WrestleDream after he reportedly signed with the promotion weeks ago.

It was expected to happen during Swerve Strickland’s return segment. In the segment, MVP came out with Shelton Benjamin because he wanted to discuss the future. He said he would have consequences regarding his future and that Swerve’s career was floundering a little bit.

He has a resume to take former champions back to the top again. Swerve told him to shove his business cards to join them. Shelton said that they weren’t asking him. They shoved each other, and referees separated them.

Fightful Select reports that those in the promotion said, “Considering that the likely debut would have resulted in Swerve being laid out or attacked, it’s not likely two hometown beat downs would have worked out well with the way the show ended.” Bryan Danielson was beat down after losing the World Title to Jon Moxley in the main event.

Lashley is still expected to appear within the next few weeks, where he will be paired with the Hurt Syndicate’s MVP and Shelton Benjamin. He was not backstage at WrestleDream.
