Chris Jericho recently did a Q&A session on social media where he spoke about his segment with Matt Hardy from this past Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite.
This saw them have a one-on-one confrontation to close out the show as Hardy teleported towards the ring from the crowd. In the Q&A, Jericho told the story about the segment and the challenges that they had to deal with.
“If you want a behind the scenes tidbit if you saw the teleportation of Matt Hardy. If you liked it, that’s all on me. If you didn’t like it, it’s still all on me. It was all my idea and we actually filmed it the night before because we did some taping on Tuesday. They filmed one version of it and I didn’t like it, the way it turned out, it wasn’t my vision really.”
Jericho continued by noting that he thought they should redo it on Wednesday right before the show started. However, they ran into the problem of how the sun hadn’t gone down yet at that time so it was still light in there.
He brought up how the Darby Allin and Kip Sabin match was pre-recorded. Thus, they had about 15 minutes on the broadcast to do the segment where Hardy appears in different parts of the crowd.
When they took the footage to the truck, they noticed that there were some missing pieces but they realized that they had to do it anyways. The crew got done filming the angle at 8:30 and got into the truck at 8:40 so they got it done at 9pm local time and it hit the air at 9:30.
Jericho added that if you thought it was off or odd that’s because it was but he noted that he loved the final product of the segment.
“It’s obviously probably the only time we get the chance to do that for a while unless there is another pandemic at some point, which we all hope [doesn’t happen].
