PAC sustained an injury during his singles match against Swerve Strickland on last week’s AEW Dynamite. This injury jeopardized their planned Trios Titles defense against The Opps for the Death Riders.
The expectation was that Jon Moxley would defend the titles in PAC’s place alongside his teammates Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta, utilizing the Freebird/Wolfpac rule. However, Fightful Select reported that AEW has stated Moxley is not currently recognized as a Trios Champion.
When Moxley teams with Claudio and Yuta against Samoa Joe, Katsuyori Shibata, and HOOK on the Spring BreakThru special of Dynamite, Moxley will be recognized as a Trios Champion if The Death Riders are victorious.
On last week’s episode of Collision, Tony Schiavone mentioned on commentary that Moxley was recognized as an interim champion to compete in the title match.
