Backstage news on MJF’s status for AEW Worlds End

AEW World Heavyweight Champion MJF suffered real injuries during the main event of Saturday’s AEW Full Gear 2023 pay-per-view event from Los Angeles at the Kia Forum. At the show, he worked two matches.

The spot

After MJF and Samoa Joe beat The Gunns in the ROH Tag Team Title match on the pre-show, The Gunns attacked MJF, which led to MJF being rushed to the hospital. Adam Cole prevented Jay White from winning the World Heavyweight Title in a forfeit before MJF came back for the main event.

The decision to have the storyline injury has been criticized by fans. As previously reported, MJF suffered a real hip injury in the match and needed it to be popped back in after the show. He also suffered a real shoulder injury. The good news is he won’t be missing any TV time.

MJF’s return

While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted the injury happened when he hit a cutter outside of the ring to White during the World Title match.

“He’s dealing with a lot of pain, but apparently he’ll be ready for the pay-per-view, the December show in Nassau Coliseum against Samoa Joe,” Meltzer added.
