Since joining AEW in 2019, Jon Moxley has been pushed as a top star in the promotion and bailed them out on a few occasions when the void of a credible World Champion was needed.
Since 2020, he has not hit a losing percentage higher than 23%, as the promotion has kept him strong throughout most of his programs. Thus far, through 2024, he holds a 23-6-1 record. Being pushed strongly isn’t just in AEW but also in New Japan Pro Wrestling, where he’s also found success.
Earlier this year, he captured the IWGP World Heavyweight Title and had a successful title reign. Moxley’s last match happened at the Forbidden Door pay-per-view event nearly a month ago, when he dropped the IWGP Heavyweight Title to Tetsuya Naito.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that Moxley hasn’t wrestled or been at events since Forbidden Door because he was given time off.
As of this writing, it’s unclear when he will return.
