One day after announcing a 10-man tag team match for Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite, the promotion pulled Jeff Hardy and Adam Cole from the bout to make it an 8-man tag team match.

Jungle Boy, Luchasaurus, Matt Hardy, and Christian Cage against The Young Bucks and reDRagon is the new match. It’s still unclear why Cole was pulled from the bout, but in the case of Hardy, Dave Meltzer confirmed on today’s Wrestling Observer Radio that he was told the decision was made to remove him due to him feeling physically beat up following his wild match with Darby Allin a few weeks ago.

“Jeff Hardy was a mess going into Double Or Nothing. From what I was told, it was really the Darby Allin match, he’s beat up. The one thing, when he went to AEW, you can watch those highlight reels and see how he did some big stunts at his age and he’s paying for it now.” Meltzer later added, "Jeff was having a tough go in that tag team match. Every time he moved, it was a painful reminder that this guy is hurting really bad."

This had been speculation this was why the change was made. The Hardys just worked a match against The Young Bucks at Sunday’s AEW Double Or Nothing where his boot came undone and Dr. Sampson had to tape it up for him.

As of this writing, it’s still unclear how long Hardy will stay out of in-ring action to heal up.
