AEW star Bobby Lashley has expressed his interest in returning to either boxing or MMA competition, and it seems he has the full support of AEW President Tony Khan.
During a recent interview on the Fightful podcast, Lashley was asked about the possibility of fighting again. “That’s the one thing that I love about Tony,” Lashley said. “He gives you the opportunity to do whatever you want to do.”
Lashley acknowledged that his primary focus remains on professional wrestling, but he believes that pursuing other combat sports opportunities can benefit both himself and AEW. “For me to go out and take another fight, it is beneficial for myself, but it’s beneficial for the show because it gives my character and who I am a little bit more legitimacy,” he explained.
Lashley confirmed that he has already been in contact with both boxing and MMA promotions about a potential fight. “I love to fight,” he said. “I think there’s some opportunities to fight… and while I still can, I’m going to, so I’m excited.”
Lashley also shared an anecdote about discussing the topic with Khan. “When I got asked that question, I was sitting next to Tony, and I was like, ‘Oh, how am I going to answer this?'” Lashley recalled. “Tony jumps up and says, ‘He’ll knock on anybody.’ I was like, ‘Whoa, cool. Well, there’s the answer.'”
It remains to be seen when and where Lashley’s next fight will take place, but it’s clear that he has the full support of AEW and its President.
