AEW on-air star Brandi Rhodes recently appeared on the AEW Unrestricted podcast. The 'Chief Brandi Officer' broached a ton of subjects on the show, including how she got into wrestling, figure skating and more.
One of the topics discussed revolved around critics of Brandi, purely based on the fact that he is a woman in a male dominated business. And also, because her husband is AEW EVP Cody Rhodes.
Brandi Rhodes talks detractors
"I mean the the only hesitation that I ever had was the hesitation that a lot of women are made to have positions like this" Brandi began. "Which is that people would say, 'well, the only reason you're doing this job is because of who you're married to.'"
"well, the only reason you're doing this job is because of who you're married to."
Brandi elaborated further, saying "that's obviously happened [before], I'm still alive and I still have the job so it didn't really hurt. But yeah, I mean that's the natural thing you know? You don't want to do something great for yourself and then get a lot of backlash. Just for accepting an opportunity that was good for you? Sure, it is tough being married to your business partner? You know, more so in the creative element than in the business sense. We're very like minded, we both are very organised. We annoy people because we show up dressed up!"
Leading The Natural Nightmares
Brandi would also mention that she is currently enjoying her role as an on screen manager. And that she sees herself doing this right now rather than performing in the ring. Rhodes is part of the Natural Nightmares group alongside Dustin Rhodes and QT Marshall. The group won their debut match this week on Dynamite.
