Bray Wyatt Was Close to Making AEW Debut Before WWE Return

Bray Wyatt nearly became All Elite before returning to WWE last year.

WWE released Wyatt in the summer of 2021 despite him being close to returning to television after disappearing following his WrestleMania 37 loss to Randy Orton. It was a shocking release as he was a top star and top earning for the company.

Before Wyatt returned to WWE, it was reported that Vince McMahon didn’t like him personally and would shout derogatory things at Wyatt about his physique. It was also reported Wyatt pushed back on creative and called out bad ideas, which McMahon didn’t like, so Wyatt was labeled as having a “bad attitude.”

Wyatt was brought back by Triple H when he took over main roster creative. Sadly, the wrestling world lost Wyatt last week when he suffered a heart attack. In between his WWE runs, Wyatt never wrestled and kept a low profile.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that AEW and other promotions were interested in Wyatt. Things got so close to Wyatt heading to AEW that AEW’s broadcast partner, TNT, was told about his debut date.

Meltzer wrote, “At one point TNT was told of a date for him to debut in AEW, but it fell through, believed to be money-related. Impact was interested, as was AAA and Japanese groups.”
