It turns out that WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart is okay with one AEW star using his famous finisher, the Sharpshooter.
Shawn Spears, formerly known as Tye Dillinger from his time in WWE, has reinvented himself since joining All Elite Wrestling.
As seen on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite on TNT that was taped a few weeks ago in Georgia, Spears won a squash match and did so by locking in the Sharpshooter.
While some fans had no problem with it, there was a vocal portion who were and expressed their opinions on social media.
Spears took to his official Twitter account where he made it clear that he wasn’t being disrespectful towards Hart. In fact, he asked the legendary pro wrestler for permission to use the finisher. He wrote the following:
“For those commenting: A while back, I sent a text to @BretHart asking a question. He told me: “Go for it, it works” Tonight as @IAmJericho mentioned, I paid tribute to a Canadian ICON by winning via the #Sharpshooter It just makes sense. Mine now.#LoveYouBret @AEWrestling.”

Hart has made an appearance on AEW programming before as he presented the AEW World Heavyweight Title during its unveiling back at the Double or Nothing pay-per-view event last year.
