Brian Cage made his AEW debut at the Double or Nothing pay-per-view event last year when he was revealed as the mystery competitor in the Casino Ladder Match. As a result of winning the match, Cage earned the right to challenge then-champion Jon Moxley for the AEW World Heavyweight Title but fell short.
Shortly after this match, Taz, who is his manager, awarded him the FTW Title. Cage recently reached a milestone as he has now held the title for over a year as he received it on the July 2, 2020 episode of Dynamite.
Cage defended the title twice last year and so far has defended it once in 2021. He is slated to make his next defense of the title against Ricky Starks on the Fyter Fest – Night 1 episode of AEW Dynamite that takes place on July 14.
Cage recently made it known that he wasn’t thrilled with the poster that AEW has released for this episode:
@starkmanjones vs cage only match announced and can't get on poster after selling out. Ricky's hone town, and Austin is the wrestling tent that I built. #wrestlecircus https://t.co/Zj0ZCIyuZO
