Former AEW Women’s World Champion Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. has taken to social media to thank her fanbase for their continued support during her prolonged absence from television. In a post on X, Baker acknowledged that while social media can be a breeding ground for “trolls,” she wanted to specifically show appreciation for the “real fans” who have stood by her.
Once the undeniable face of the AEW women’s division, Baker’s presence on television has significantly diminished over the past couple of years. Her last match took place in November 2024, capping off a year in which she only competed five times for the promotion. This is a strong contrast to her most active year in 2021, a year that saw her win the AEW Women’s World Championship and compete in 30 matches. Despite her long layoff, Baker has made it clear that she is not retired and is ready to return to the ring.
In a post made in August, she directly addressed her status, confirming her intention to wrestle again. AEW President Tony Khan has also commented on her absence, stating that he “likes Britt a lot” and that her time on TV will come when the creative is right. Baker has also had backstage dealings as well that made headlines.
For now, the “D.M.D.” is choosing to focus on the positive and engage with the fanbase that has supported her since her debut as one of the original members of the AEW roster. The landscape of the AEW women’s division has changed significantly during Baker’s absence. The division is now led by a new generation of stars, with Kris Statlander currently holding the AEW Women’s World Championship and Mercedes Mone reigning as the TBS Champion.
We’re always so quick to burn the trolls on this app, but never quick enough to appreciate the true fans who show love every day. Thank you 🫶🏻
