Brody King has addressed the widespread fan support he has received for his anti-ICE stance, saying he does not view the issue as political and that speaking out against what he sees as wrong is a personal responsibility. King has taken a public stance on immigration enforcement policy, with his position resonating strongly with portions of the wrestling fanbase and generating attention both inside and outside of the wrestling community over the past several months.
Speaking to Denise Salcedo in a new interview, King reflected on the reaction he has received since making his position clear over the course of the past nine months, during which he has regularly been met with chants of support from wrestling audiences.
“It has been great, and I feel like when I was younger, I always wanted somebody that felt like me on TV or wherever to express the way that they felt so I can have someone to champion for me,” King said. “If I can be that for other people that are being marginalized, then I want to be that for them.”
King pushed back against attempts to frame his stance purely through a political lens, drawing a simpler distinction for why he speaks out. “Everyone tries to bring up the political thing,” King said. “In my opinion, it’s just what’s right and what’s wrong, and there’s a lot of wrong happening in the world, and if I can speak out against it, then I will. We’ve got guys like Mick Foley who also do the same thing.”
