Bryan Danielson Announced For AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door Pre-Show

AEW has announced that “The American Dragon” Bryan Danielson will be a part of this Sunday’s AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door pay-per-view. The fan-favorite star will be serving as a panelist on the “Zero Hour” pre-show. The announcement confirms that Danielson will join the regular pre-show team of Renee Paquette, RJ City, and Jeff Jarrett.

This new role is a perfect fit for Danielson’s current status with the company. He officially retired as a full-time competitor at the WrestleDream pay-per-view in October 2024 but has remained with AEW in a backstage and ambassadorial role. He is not medically cleared to compete while he tries to let his neck heal up.

While he has not wrestled in nearly a year, Danielson did make a surprise physical appearance at the All In: Texas pay-per-view in July, coming to the aid of “Hangman” Adam Page in the main event. In recent interviews, he has confirmed that he is “not back” as an active wrestler and is enjoying his time with his family.

The show is expected to be headlined by a ten-man Lights Out Steel Cage match. The Forbidden Door “Zero Hour” pre-show streams for free this Sunday, August 24, on AEW’s official social media channels.
