Bryan Danielson Is Still Awaiting Neck Surgery

Bryan Danielson became the AEW World Heavyweight Champion once he went over Swerve Strickland in a career vs. title match that headlined the AEW All In London 2024 pay-per-view event before losing the title to Jon Moxley at WrestleDream.

As a result of the loss, Danielson was forced to retire from full-time wrestling, although he can still wrestle part-time. Heading into the bout, it was well-documented that he needed neck surgery.

While speaking on the Nikki & Brie Show, Brie and Danielson shared an update on his status.

Brie stated, “Bryan has to get neck surgery, so we’re waiting to hear. But it’s weird because I wanted to do this big post for him. I was even talking to him like I had all these pictures ready to go, and then he’s like, ‘no, because as wrestler’s we’re never fully retired.’”

Danielson said, “I was very cautious to not say ‘retirement,’ except for the match where if I lost, I would retire. After that, it was all, ‘the end of my full-time wrestling career.’ We don’t know what’s going to happen with my neck. It honestly feels like I have a bobblehead.”
