Bryan Danielson’s full-time days in the ring are closing this year. His AEW contract as a talent has expired, although he remains under contract for his behind-the-scenes role.
AEW World Heavyweight Champion Swerve Strickland vs. Danielson is expected to headline the AEW All In event on Sunday, August 25. Danielson has put his career on the line as a stipulation for this bout.
While Danielson plans to retire from full-time competitor, Danielson will continue to wrestle a handful of matches per year. As seen below, AEW has released more footage of Jim Ross’ interview with the top star, where Danielson noted he may need neck surgery at the end of the year.
Danielson stated, “Even the way I feel right now, I mean, odds are I’m going to have to get neck surgery before the end of this year. That’s the reality of it. And that’s kind of something I have accepted. It’s coming down the pike relatively soon.”
After 25 years in the business, Bryan Danielson feels he's as mentally strong as he's ever been! But can his body handle the ultimate CHALLENGE that is the #AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland at #AEWALLIN!?
