Chris Charlton Is On An Indefinite Hiatus From NJPW After Anti-AEW Remarks At Wrestle Dynasty

UPDATE: Fightful Select reports Charlton has been suspended for two months.

ORIGINAL: NJPW commentator Chris Charlton made anti-AEW and Tony Khan comments while calling Saturday’s Wrestle Dynasty event. These comments reportedly got him in hot water with NJPW.

Dave Meltzer reports that Charlton is on an “indefinite hiatus” from NJPW because of the comments. Most notably, Charlton referred to Khan as a “money mark” during the Kenny Omega vs. Gabe Kidd match as he was seemingly trying to add fuel to the storyline of AEW vs. NJPW.

He also questioned what Kazuchika Okada, Jay White, and Will Ospreay have done since leaving NJPW and signing with AEW. Charlton also unfavorably compared the Continental Classic to the G1 tournament.

He was absent from commentary at this morning’s New Year’s Dash event.
