Chris Jericho shares details on Stadium Stampede match production

While doing an interview with ESPN, Chris Jericho spoke about his latest match under the AEW banner that received high praise from fans.

The Elite (Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks, and Adam Page) vs. The Inner Circle (Jake Hager, Sammy Guevara, Chris Jericho, Santana and Ortiz) in a Stadium Stampede Match served as the main event of AEW Double or Nothing pay-per-view event.

It was a wild match that had all sorts of moments from Page chasing down Guevara while riding a horse, a bar fight, Matt Jackson hitting suplexes across the football field, and much more.

In this interview, he gave some details on the production of the contest.

“When you film a movie, there’s weeks, months of filming, weeks and months of editing. All that different stuff. We filmed the entire Stadium Stampede in nine hours. From 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday night to Saturday morning. And we had three hours to edit it before we had to take it to the truck. What we created in that time frame is monumental. We literally should win an Emmy for that.”

Jericho continued by talking about how everyone was on the same page as they all knew what they wanted. He talked about how they all went to the Jacksonville Jaguars’ TIAA Bank Field on Thursday to see what they could do. When he got there, Jericho knew that they would have to dress it up a bit because it’s an empty stadium.

Jericho noted how they made this amazing spectacle that no one had ever seen before and that it embodied everything of what pro wrestling is.

“It was serious, it was dangerous, it was breathtaking, it was funny, it was creative, it was unique, it was adventurous. It really was more of a short film than a match. And that’s what we wanted. It’s one of my favorite things and one of the best things that I’ve done in 30 years in this business.”

Jericho also talked about his brawl with Mike Tyson from Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite episode, their angle in WWE, and more. You can check out the full interview here.
