AEW Star Chris Jericho recently appeared on SiriusXM’s Busted Open Radio. The former ‘Le Champion’ would discuss a number of topics during the show, namely Star Wars and 80s Hair Metal. Jericho did at one point talk about the recent Bubbly Bunch and Flim Flam videos that have been produced for AEW programming. The former WWE Superstar would go into the logistics of creating content in the pandemic climate that we’re currently in.
“During the lockdown, the quarantine? We had four [AEW Dynamite] shows that were taped, that’s cool, but we also wanted to put some new content in there” Jericho would begin the interview. “I thought ‘you know it’s a really cool idea to show that we’re trying to put this product on the air’ and not be worried about ‘okay the quality isn’t great.’
Jericho would then discuss the changing landscape of television, saying how the ‘effort’ being put forth is now more important than the actual production quality. “You could never put an iPhone video on national TV two months ago” Jericho stated.” Now people see it and say ‘man, these guys are really trying.’ So to me I always kind of fall back on the comedic side of things, when we’re doing stuff like that. Because I enjoy that part of wrestling, that part of my character as well.”
Y2J would then specifically discuss the ‘Flim Flam’ content and the viral hit it became. “I knew that Flim Flam was going to be ridiculous. Because I see everyone’s doing Tik Tok videos, so let’s do a Flim Flam video. Then we’ll call it like the Flim Flam dance! When we put it up like send in your Flim Flam video. The TMZ volunteer asked us to stop it after like three hours, they had like 500 submissions. They said ‘we can’t keep up with all of this, so we just have to stop it.'”
Jericho would discuss how he knew that it was going to become a hit, because right now people are just looking for something to do. “And I knew that was gonna happen because people are just looking for something to do. They enjoy the fun of it. But I think the Bubbly Bunch will take a break from it because we don’t have to do that. Because we’ll be there live all together soon to tape. So, I think it was, long story short? it was a good way to kind of keep things fresh, have some fun and also be pretty ridiculous but also knowing that people appreciate it.”
