Chris Jericho has big goals for 2019 and has a chance to fulfill them. Those goals are simple. He wants to be the top champion in New Japan Pro Wrestling and All Elite Wrestling.
First up is NJPW as he’ll challenge IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada for the title in the main event of the Dominion card that takes place on June 9th, 2019 in Osaka, Japan and will air live on NJPW World at 3 am ET / 12 am ET.
He’ll also take on Adam “Hangman” Page to determine who will be the inaugural AEW World Champion in the expected main event of the AEW All Out event that will take place on Saturday, August 31st at the Sears Centre in Chicago, IL.
Jericho took part in a press conference to promote Dominion where he talked about his desire to be a double champion.
“Okada, I’ll beat you, I’ll be the IWGP Champion and at All Out I’ll beat Hangman Page and be the AEW champion. I’ll be double champion just like when I beat The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin both on the same night to become WWE and WCW double champion. That was a lifetime ago now here we are in 2019, Okada versus Jericho: a dream match, one of the biggest matches you could ever have. It could headline the Tokyo Dome, but tomorrow night in Osaka at Dominion in front of a sold-out crowd, it’s going to be one of the biggest matches you’ve ever seen in New Japan. At the end of it I will win, I will be the IWGP Heavyweight Champion. I have to.”
