Claudio Castagnoli: Eddie Kingston is his own worst enemy, but that doesn’t mean that he is not a very dangerous competitor in the ring

Claudio Castagnoli was recently interviewed on the Under The Ring podcast to talk about AEW and his upcoming title match at ROH Supercard of Honor with Eddie Kingston, among other topics.

Claudio on why he came to AEW at this point in his career:

“I felt like I needed a new challenge. I felt like I needed a breath of fresh air. I felt like AEW will give me all those opportunities. I feel like you need to keep taking risks, and by that I mean you can never stay complacent. So a change of scenery at that point I felt was necessary and wanted because I always want to improve myself. I always want to get better. I never want to stay complacent or be complacent. So I felt like the move to AEW was something that would help me and it definitely did.”

On going to ROH:

This is a brand new ROH and I feel like a lot more eyes are on it than maybe ever before thanks to the fact that you can watch Honor Club wherever you are in the world. I would like to share that passion and love for wrestling and for Ring of Honor that I had and that I have. I feel if you love wrestling, you love Ring of Honor, because no matter what kind of style or what kind of wrestling you like, you will see it in Ring of Honor. What Ring of Honor always has been is the proving ground for new young talent. They want to break through. They want to spread their wings and I feel like that’s what Ring of Honor is doing again. So if you’ve seen any of the first three episodes of Ring of Honor on Ring of Honor Club, I feel like you can sense that feeling of everybody just trying to put their best foot forward and just giving everything in their matches and that’s what Ring of Honor has always been. That’s what I would like to represent.”

On wrestling Eddie Kingston at Supercard of Honor:

“I mean, Eddie has been waiting for this match or a match like that for 10 plus years according to him, and it’s definitely something that is unfinished business, I mean, probably more for him than for me. I also know that no matter what Eddie does, and no matter what Eddie says, he is always a dangerous competitor just because he is so unpredictable. I mean, he’s his own worst enemy, but that doesn’t mean that he is not a very dangerous competitor in the ring. So yea, I’ll. kind of leave it at that, I guess.”
