After years away from the pro wrestling business, CM Punk returned to wrestling in August 2021 by signing with AEW.
Despite not advertising his return, AEW strongly hinted at it and they sold out the United Center in addition to doing the highest AEW Rampage rating to date.
While speaking with Marc Raimondi in a feature on ESPN, Punk said he spent too much time worrying while in WWE and he’s just living in the moment now that he’s in AEW.
“I feel like it was kind of wasted. What old head you’re gonna make mad for no reason. It could have been so much more. It should have been so much more. And now, this is everything I dreamed pro wrestling could and should be. And I’m here and I’m f—ing in the moment. I’m not thinking about tomorrow. I’m not worried about s— that happened yesterday. I’m living in the moment and I’m 100% in my f—ing prime, best I’ve ever been.”
AEW President Tony Khan had high praise for Punk earlier this week by explaining how he’s helped the company.
Punk is days away from challenging for the AEW World Title against “Hangman” Adam Page at Sunday’s AEW Double Or Nothing.
