CM Punk questions if AEW has the talent depth to support additional titles

AEW already has plenty of existing titles such as World Heavyweight, Women’s, Tag Team, and TNT Championships. They also use the FTW Title.

The promotion has already announced there will be a TBS Title for the women’s division with the inaugural champion being crowned with a tournament. There’s also been speculation about a possible Trios Championship and tag team titles for the women.

During an appearance on My Mom’s Basement with Robbie Fox, the AEW star spoke about his concerns about the promotion adding more titles.

“I think if everybody has a title and if everybody’s a champion that nobody’s a champion. I think you’ve got to be really careful with that. I think the TBS Title is even pushing it, there’s already a women’s title. Do we have the depth in the women’s division? Do we have the depth in the men’s division to have a secondary title?”

Punk thinks they’ve done pretty good thus far and put over Miro for bringing credibility to the TNT Title. He noted that he’s not knocking women’s wrestling and pointed out how he’s married to AJ Lee.

He continued, “I just wonder if we have the personnel to support a secondary or a title that’s on even footing with the Women’s Title. I just don’t know, trios, it’s the same thing. It’s just like yeah, there’s a lot of stables that have three people, and yeah you can have me tag with Sting and Darby [Allin], but again if everybody’s a champion, nobody’s a champion. There needs to be, in my opinion, less titles, but we’ll see how it goes.”

Punk stated he’s sure the women will prove him wrong and instead of another singles title for the women then there should be Women’s Tag Team Titles  instead. He added he thinks there should be Women’s Tag Team Titles before the trios.
