As was first reported earlier via Fightful Select, there was a backstage altercation between Jack Perry and CM Punk just before Punk went out to the ring for his match with Samoa Joe.
During the live broadcast, Perry did a spot on a car and then went up to the camera and said “cry me a river” after noting that he did the spot on real glass. This was a reference to the altercation from a few weeks ago where Punk told Perry that real glass should not be used in a backstage segment because of safety concerns.
PWInsider reported that one version of the story is that Punk punched Perry and another version is that there was no punch thrown but Perry was grabbed and choked by Punk. Some are adamant that there was no punch while others are saying there was a punch thrown.
It was later reported that the prevailing story backstage is that it was Perry who confronted Punk and that led to both men shoving each other and more people have confirmed that Perry was choked by Punk.
Punk is still backstage at the show but Perry was told to leave the stadium.
