There is more on CM Punk in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter and Dave Meltzer noted again that there are people in AEW who believe that Punk is WWE-bound. People in WWE are denying that but it’s worth noting that Punk’s agent recently reached out to the head honchos at FOX.
Punk is represented by CAA, the same agency that represents WWE. Punk’s agent reached out to see if FOX would be interested in hiring Punk to co-host the new WWE talk show that will air every Tuesday night on FS1.
The show hosts would be paid by FOX and not WWE and the idea of Punk being involved with that show would probably not go over well with people in WWE management. With that being said, it should be pointed out that just because the agent reached out, it does not mean that Punk was aware of this and does not necessarily mean that he’s interested. Oftentimes, agents will reach out to several places to gauge interest and then let the client know who is and is not interested in negotiating. There have been no negotiations between Punk’s side and FOX about the hosting gig.
At this point, it doesn’t look like Punk is headed to AEW and a WWE return seems out of the question but if any talks open up then it would likely be kept quiet. As of a few weeks ago, there was no deal in place for Punk to appear at All Out or any AEW shows.
Punk currently does MMA commentary for Cage Fury Fighting Championships.
