Cody Rhodes talks about Greg Valentine and the conversation he had with him after last week’s AEW Dynamite

Dave LaGreca and Tommy Dreamer welcomed Cody Rhodes to Busted Open Radio on Tuesday to promote this week’s AEW Dynamite anniversary show.

Here are some highlights:

Cody talked about AEW celebrating its one year anniversary: “I think we are going to continue to change. I think year one, we thought maybe we had an identity carved out. Really the identity that is constant is the one that is not constant. It’s a product that is evolving. It’s a wrestling style that’s evolving. It’s a robust flavor profile. I want to keep changing it. I genuinely do, for the benefit of the wrestling fan, and the betterment of the locker room is to change our culture.”

Cody was asked about Greg Valentine in the audience for his dog collar match:  “Greg, that was a no brainer. When I mentioned to Tony Khan, “What about Greg Valentine?” he was just glowing about it. Just to see Greg in the crowd. Then for Greg to be so interested. We didn’t give Greg any information. For him to be so interested and that’s one of those talks I had afterward. He came and spoke to me and Brodie separately. I’ll treasure that conversation forever because he’s a legend and he was treated as such. I really like that Tony does that. I’m particularly sensitive to that because of Dusty being in my life and how he was treated, good and bad, great and bad. So, when we bring in legends, we want them to just be legends.”
