The year is coming to a close and 2019 promises to be a big year for professional wrestling.
WWE is looking to sign all top independent talent as they look to expand NXT brand to several countries and Ring Of Honor is preparing to run their biggest show in company history at Madison Square Garden in a joint effort with New Japan Pro Wrestling.
The biggest story of the year could be about All Elite Wrestling. At this point, the only thing we know is that trademarks have been filed and Jacksonville Jaguars owner Tony Khan is ready to fund the company if they can get a TV deal.
Cody Rhodes touched on the rumors over the weekend during a meet-and-greet in Melbourne, Australia. In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that Rhodes said that fans need to wait until January for a big announcement and the announcement “would be bigger than anyone expects.”
Rhodes never mentioned the new promotion but the assumption is that he was talking about All Elite Wrestling.
If everyone in The Elite sticks together and Chris Jericho jumps on board then this could turn into one of the biggest wrestling stories in many years and you can bet that WWE won’t be happy about it.
