An AEW star still has some time left on her contract after the original belief was that she was no longer of the promotion.
Maria Kanellis previously announced that her contract with AEW was slated to expire on October 31, something she had previously noted she was going to speak out about. In December, she announced that she was cancer-free after revealing a mass was found on her adrenal gland.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported that Maria’s deal is slated to be up in January after the two sides agreed to a short extension that would benefit both sides around the time her original deal was slated to expire. They were told there was supposed to be an announcement regarding the extension, but it was never made.
The former WWE star was said to be open to helping out with women’s creative as well in AEW/ROH, as she previously had a creative role in the women’s division during the SBG era of ROH. The Kingdom’s Mike Bennett, Matt Taven, and Maria made their AEW debut in October 2022 after finishing up with TNA Wrestling.
