After months of anticipation, one AEW star will have his contract expire next week with the belief that he’s on his way out.
The Lucha Bros. (Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix) have been in the headlines this year, with their deals coming up amid interest from WWE. While AEW internally believes the Lucha Bros. will leave the company for WWE once they are free and clear of their AEW deals, AEW added time to his deal due to time missed, and he will work for several more months to make the time up.
Penta’s deal is still slated to expire soon. Fightful Select reports that it will be up next week. Once that happens, he will become a free agent. WWE is still interested in him, while indie companies looking to book him in high-profile matches should become available.
It’s unclear whether he will sign with WWE right away if a deal is reached or wait for Fenix to join him so they can make their debut together.
