Big Bill’s AEW contract is believed to be expiring at the end of May or the start of June, according to sources who spoke with Fightful Select last month.
Sean Ross Sapp reported the news on X, noting that sources he and Fightful Select spoke with last month held that belief about the contract’s expiration window. Additional details are available for Fightful Select subscribers.
Big Bill, whose real name is William Morrissey, has been with AEW since 2022. He joined the promotion as part of Stokely Hathaway’s stable The Firm before eventually teaming with Ricky Starks. He and Starks won the AEW World Tag Team Championship on October 7, 2023, defeating FTR. They lost the titles to Sting and Darby Allin on the February 7, 2024 episode of AEW Dynamite. He is currently one-half of Paid In Full alongside Bryan Keith.
Morrissey was previously in WWE under the name Big Cass, where he spent several years as one-half of the Enzo and Cass tag team. He and Enzo Amore were called up to Raw the night after WrestleMania 32 in April 2016 and won the NXT Year-End Award for Tag Team of the Year in 2015. After splitting from Amore, Morrissey moved to SmackDown as a singles competitor, where he feuded with Daniel Bryan. WWE released him on June 19, 2018.
Morrissey has spoken publicly about the factors that led to his release, citing depression, anxiety, and alcohol addiction as the driving forces behind his behavior during that period. On Talk Is Jericho, he discussed how he approached his comeback after getting sober. “I just applied the principles of what I learned in sobriety and recovery to wrestling,” he said. “Do what you’re told, put your head down, work hard, don’t complain. Just do what you’re told, move forward, and make each day better than the last.”
Before signing with Impact Wrestling in April 2021, Morrissey said he texted Triple H to let him know he was going to Impact and to express his appreciation for the support WWE had provided. He said Triple H’s response was “Do what you gotta do. Down the road, whatever.” Morrissey described him as “super cool about it.”
Beyond the tag title run with Starks, he has established himself across both AEW and Ring of Honor programming and is currently one-half of Paid In Full with Bryan Keith.

If Big Cass returns to WWE, does he return as a singles star? He can be a World Champion… or Enzo and Cass reunion? https://t.co/PIl8B2e8WJ
