Darby Allin Confirms Bam Margera Will Only Appear In Jackass 5 Through Old Footage And Didn’t Film Anything New

On a recent appearance on TMZ Inside The Ring, AEW star Darby Allin confirmed what Jackass fans have been piecing together since the January announcement of Jackass 5: Bam Margera will only appear in the new movie through old archival footage and is not filming anything new for the project.

Allin, who cites Jackass and skateboarding as bigger influences on his career than wrestling itself, got into the topic after host Branson Quirke asked him about the Jackass 5 movie that was announced by Johnny Knoxville on January 8, 2026. Darby was asked if he had ever been approached to appear in the franchise.

What Darby Allin said

“Bam is not with them. They’re just using old footage of Bam. He’s not with them. He had a falling out with them and he hasn’t really talked to the people like the actual directors and everything like that. He’s still mutual friends with some of them, but he’s not with them. He didn’t film anything new.”

Allin went on to say he reached out to Steve-O years ago about potentially appearing in the franchise.

“I talked to Steve-O probably forever ago, back when they were filming the fourth movie right before the pandemic, and I said, yo, put me in that movie. Honestly, I would love to do anything, just because I think of everything that inspired me. And I wasn’t really inspired by wrestling growing up, I was inspired by skateboarding and Jackass and all those crazy shows. So just to bring that into the world of wrestling was so fun. I feel like I’m living Jackass on a weekly basis.”

The Bam Margera context

Bam Margera was fired from the production of Jackass Forever in 2021 after testing positive for Adderall, which Margera maintained he was legally prescribed. He filed a wrongful termination lawsuit against Johnny Knoxville, director Jeff Tremaine, Paramount, and Spike Jonze, which was settled out of court in 2022. Jackass Forever was released in 2022 without Margera’s participation, marking the first Jackass film he was not part of.

When Jackass 5 was announced on January 8, 2026, Variety reported the same day that Margera had signed a deal to appear in the new film through never-before-seen archival footage only, with no expectation that he would film new stunts. That matches what Darby Allin said on TMZ Inside The Ring. Margera himself confirmed the arrangement in a January interview with Loudwire, saying, “They did ask me. They said we’re going to sift through a lot of old footage to try to create something new and I said, ‘hell yeah, go for it,’ because I remember filming so much crazy shit that never made it to the movie. But I mean, I said yeah. Have at it.”

Margera also told Loudwire that his personal feelings toward Knoxville and Tremaine have not changed. “As far as I know, I don’t have to film anything new and I don’t want to. I’m just too hurt by it and I’ve just accepted the fact that I don’t want anything to do with it anymore.” Asked if he had squashed the beef with Knoxville and Tremaine, he said, “No, I haven’t. My feelings to them are still fuck you.”

In a July 2025 interview with Variety promoting his appearance as a secret skater in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4, Margera said, “What they did to me, making me go to treatment and paying for it, and then not putting me in a movie, you know, I had to go to court over it. You couldn’t offer me enough money to want to do another Jackass with them. The damage has been done.”

Jackass 5

Jackass 5 is scheduled for theatrical release on June 26, 2026 and has been confirmed by Johnny Knoxville as the final Jackass film. The movie is being directed by Jeff Tremaine with Knoxville and Spike Jonze producing. The cast features all of the returning original members (Knoxville, Steve-O, Chris Pontius, Wee Man, Preston Lacy, Dave England, and Danger Ehren) as well as the newer additions from Jackass Forever (Poopies, Zach Holmes, Jasper Dolphin, Rachel Wolfson, and Eric Manaka). Principal photography on new material started in late February 2026.
