Darby Allin Reveals Tony Khan Shot Down His Pitch to Get Hit By a Car
Darby Allin is known for his death-defying stunts, but he revealed that there have been “lots of times” that AEW President Tony Khan has had to tell him an idea is “too much.”
On the 3NT Exclusive show, Allin recalled one specific pitch he made during the pandemic when AEW’s roster was thin. “Especially during the uh pandemic, because the roster was so thin, I would always pitch for the most craziest stuff,” Allin said. “And he’s like, ‘We can’t afford to to have anybody else miss out on the show.'”
When asked for a specific example, Allin didn’t hesitate. “Oh, get hit by a car,” he revealed.
Allin explained that his mindset, borrowed from his skateboarding background, often clashes with production safety. “If uh if anybody knows anything that I do, I don’t like there to be a lot of safety nets with a lot anything. I like to just go out there and go crazy,” he said. “‘Cause all these stunt men that come out… I’m like, ‘Don’t you see what we do in the ring?’… I just I do a lot better when there’s less safety. I know it sounds crazy… I don’t do good when there’s a lot of rules.”
