Darby Allin: “I’m Willing To Go Places For AEW That No One’s Willing To Go”

In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, AEW star Darby Allin opened up about his life philosophy, the motivation behind his daredevil antics, and his passion for AEW. Allin, whose half-painted face is inspired by a traumatic car accident he survived as a child, explained the meaning behind his personal mantra.

“That’s why I got ‘Nothing’s Over ‘Til You’re Underground’ tattooed on my chest because you should never give up anything you want to do until you’re literally dead,” Allin said. “Just being around so many people that get so complacent so fast, like, ‘Ah, I’m too old for this. I can’t achieve that.’ I’m like, why? People, they just listen too much to other people’s criticism.”

He addressed the critics who have labeled him a “liability” and doubted his ability to be a top star for the company, particularly those who called his quest to climb Mount Everest “irresponsible.” “People always told me you can never really be the face of AEW because you’re too psychotic, or whatever. A liability,” he stated. “They think climbing Mount Everest was irresponsible of me, but I think the exact opposite.”

Allin passionately explained that his extreme endeavors are a testament to his dedication to the company that gave him his platform. “I’m willing to go places for this company that no one’s fucking willing to go,” he declared. “I will go to the summit of Mount Everest with the AEW flag and wave it from the top of the world, because I’m so passionate about what this place gives me. Who’s going to argue with that as the spokesperson for a company?”

He concluded by clarifying that his climb was a personal mission, not a promotional gimmick. “Anybody that says it’s stupid, it’s because I’m not doing Mount Everest for a publicity stunt. It was never about, ‘Ooh, Darby’s crazy.’ I was literally on a self-journey,” he said.

After being postponed due to an injury, Darby Allin successfully completed his expedition to the summit of Mount Everest in May 2025.
