Dave LaGreca On Mercedes Mone: “She’s Doing The Best Work She’s Done In AEW”

AEW’s women’s division is finally hitting its stride, and according to Busted Open host Dave LaGreca, Mercedes Moné is leading the charge. “She’s doing the best work she’s done in AEW,” he said, applauding Moné’s physical involvement in recent weeks after months of limited promos and appearances.

Moné appears to be on a collision course with AEW Women’s Champion Toni Storm, but not without roadblocks. Jamie Hayter, who recently returned from a lengthy absence, has reinserted herself into the picture with renewed intensity. Nic Nemeth called the build “organic,” noting that Hayter’s return already feels like she’s been on a months-long run.

The biggest difference now, both hosts said, is how AEW is presenting multiple credible women at once. “They’re not just building up one contender,” Nemeth explained. “You’ve got Toni, Mercedes, Hayter, and Thunder Rosa all tied into this one big web. That’s how you build a real division.”

LaGreca also emphasized that AEW is using Mercedes the right way—through action. “She’s not the type to win people over with long promos,” he said. “She tells stories in the ring. And now, we’re finally getting to see that.” If the current trajectory holds, fans may soon get the dream match they’ve been waiting for: Moné vs. Storm, with a deep and developed roster ready to follow.
