Last month, AEW announced an eight-man tournament with the winner becoming the number 1 contender for the AEW World Championship, currently held by Jon Moxley.
Since that time, there have been limited details provided by AEW on the tournament aside from stars working the tournament and the finals taking place at the Full Gear pay-per-view event.
Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that right now the plans are for the four quarterfinal matches to take place on the October 21st episode of Dynamite and the two semifinal matches set for the October 28th Dynamite. Thus, this will give AEW about a week-and-a-half to promote the finals.
Meltzer added that this schedule “is not etched in stone but was the plan at press time.”
AEW holds the Full Gear pay-per-view event on Saturday, November 7, 2020 from Jacksonville, Florida at Daily’s Place.
