DIY (Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa) are slated to reunite for their first tag team match in years on Monday’s episode of WWE Raw.
The team was formed in August 2015 in NXT, where they won the NXT Tag Team Titles before breaking up at NXT TakeOver: Chicago on May 20, 2017, when Ciampa turned heel and attacked Gargano.
They feuded over the next year for the NXT Title. They had brief reunions from 2019 through 2021. Gargano and Ciampa last teamed in 2021 for a WarGames match.
The fan-favorite stars will take on Imperium (Ludwig Kaiser & Giovanni Vinci). While speaking on Twitch, Gargano confirmed DIY will have a new theme song.
“Y’all remember? Yeah. Of course. Everyone’s going to want to know about the music. To be fair, if you all remember when DIY debuted, that song they gave us was just a stock song. It wasn’t like it was hand-picked for us or anything like that. We were not under contract yet. It just kind of caught on. But me and Tommaso are very excited about the potential of something new. Like, I think it could be so much more. I’m trying not to spoil too much stuff. You just have to tune in on Monday. As much as I can tell you, you have to tune in on Monday. It’s going to be very cool. I think it’s got a very cool vibe. I think it’s something we both are really pumped about. So we hope you guys dig it, too. That’s basically what it comes down to. We hope you guys dig it. We dig it. It’s something fresh, something new. And I think it’s going to be hopefully something that catches on. And years from now, you guys will talk about that song.
Ronnie is asking if it has lyrics. You got to watch it on Monday. You’ve got to tune in to Monday Night Raw. I don’t want to know if I can hum the song for you. Well, I will say it does have hints. Hints. And it is, the older song is in there, so I could hum the old song because it’s in there somewhere. Hints of it. I especially like DIY and our story. We really like to keep a common thread. We like to pay tribute to the past while also looking towards the future. I think that’s very important, especially for long-term viewers.”
