Don’t Expect To See Goldberg In An AEW Ring Anytime Soon

Following his recent retirement match in WWE and his subsequent critical comments about the company, speculation has been rampant about Goldberg’s next move after his WWE retirement match, with many fans wondering if he could be headed to All Elite Wrestling. However, a new report suggests that AEW currently has no interest in bringing in the WWE Hall of Famer.

No Direct Connection

According to a report from WrestleVotes, there is no communication happening between Goldberg and AEW at this time. The report also notes that Goldberg is believed to still be under contract with WWE, which would prevent any official talks from taking place.

The report further states that a source within AEW would be surprised if the company pursued Goldberg. The reasoning is that the promotion is currently enjoying a period of strong fan support after the critically and commercially successful All In: Texas pay-per-view, and bringing in a polarizing figure like Goldberg could potentially disrupt that positive momentum.

“After speaking with sources in AEW, we’re told there doesn’t appear to be any direct connection between the company and Goldberg at this time, one source noted it would genuinely surprise them if AEW moved in that direction for a match, especially considering its good grace standing with the fans after the successful all in pay per view last weekend. It is also believed Goldberg is still under contract with the WWE, which would prevent any communication from happening in the first place at this time. So TC, I’ll ask you this yesterday on Busted Open, MJF was on, and he really kind of dug into, or might have been Tuesday, excuse me, dug into a match with Goldberg, where we have learned since that from sources, it doesn’t appear that Goldberg and AEW are going to be matched up at any point anytime soon. ”

MJF has welcomed a match with Goldberg, but has noted that he doesn’t expect it to happen. Goldberg revealed on his podcast this week that he suffered a broken hand in his match against GUNTHER at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.
