The first details on the buy rate for the latest pay-per-view event presented by AEW, Double or Nothing, has surfaced.
Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the early numbers indicate the show will end up setting a new record of pay-per-view buys in the history of the promotion.
iPPV buys through B/R Live show that Double or Nothing was up more than 10% from the Revolution PPV in February. In fact, it could end up closer to 15% higher.
This would put this year’s Double Or Nothing at 115,000 to 120,000 buys, which would top the 100,000 – 110,000 buys garnered by Double Or Nothing in 2019. Last year’s show was the previous record.
It should be noted that cable pay-per-view numbers aren’t in yet, but these numbers look good considering that the event didn’t have actual fans in attendance while also taking place during a worldwide pandemic.
The next pay-per-view event will be All Out in September, which did around 100,000 buys last year. Full Gear in November drew an estimated 100,000 pay-per-view buys while AEW Revolution pulled in between 100,000 to 105,000 PPV buys.
