Effy On His AEW Heat That Reportedly Led To Ricky Starks’ GCW Removal: Blame Me. I Can Take It

Ricky Starks made headlines after he appeared at GCW on the same day as Full Gear. He was backstage at the AEW PPV after not being used since March.

He laid out GCW regular Jimmy Lloyd to set up a future match. However, GCW announced that Starks would no longer be at their event on 12/14 in Los Angeles, his unannounced match on 12/28 in Seattle, and his unannounced match on 1/19 at The Hammerstein Ballroom.

As previously reported by Fightful Select AEW decided to pull him because of the comments made by Effy, who performs for the promotion, towards Tony Khan’s father, Shad. GCW promoter Brett Lauderdale later discussed the situation, noting he had never had a conversation with AEW CEO Tony Khan and learned about the situation like everyone else.

Appearing on Game Changer Weekly, Effy discussed the situation. He cited Starks’ interview with Chris Van Vliet, in which he talked about his AEW status airing hours before the removal was made.

“It’s all the timing of that happening at the exact same time and then using me as a blame, you know, go ahead, buddy. You can blame me. I can handle the blame. I can take the heat. “

Effy continued, “I’m not someone who’s going to go back on what I say. I said what I said and I don’t think I said anything crazy. I just think there’s certain triggers that people have, that you have to be mindful of, especially if you’re in business with them. “

He added that he doesn’t think this is an Effy problem. It should be noted that Starks can take independent dates from other companies.
