AEW star MJF reportedly garnered significant heat for his angle at the “AEW Grand Slam Mexico” event this week, to the point that he was confronted by a fan at his hotel after the show. The incident underscores the strong reaction to his new villainous role alongside The Hurt Syndicate.
According to a report from Fightful Select, sources within AEW claimed that a fan “went after MJF at the hotel after the show.” The report states that MJF was unharmed in the incident and that his reaction was one of professional pride. He was “said to have been okay and laughed the situation off and was proud of it.”
During the “AEW Grand Slam Mexico” special on Wednesday, which was broadcast from the historic Arena México in Mexico City, MJF went out to the ring in red, white and blue gear while waving the American flag. After getting disqualified, he unmasked Mistico and then put the mask on himself.
MJF has been cutting hard promos on Mistico to garner more heat from the fans and it appears to have worked.
