AEW is looking far ahead on its pay-per-view calendar, as the first official match for the Full Gear event on November 22 has already been announced. In a video released by the company, the tag team of RPG Vice, Rocky Romero and Trent Beretta, will take on “Big Boom” AJ and a partner of his choosing at the event, which will emanate from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The announcement comes even before the company’s next major pay-per-view, WrestleDream, which is scheduled for October 18.
The match was made following a confrontation between the two teams. In the video, Big Boom AJ and his young son, “Big Justice,” called out RPG Vice for a match at Full Gear. However, Rocky Romero and Trent Beretta quickly dismissed the challenge, with Romero stating that they would not be “fighting a child,” referring to Big Justice. Rocky then issued a counter-challenge, telling AJ to go and find a partner of his own to face them in a traditional two-on-two tag team match at the November pay-per-view.
The challenge was made as Trent Beretta was sporting a cast on his arm, an injury he has been dealing with since the All In Texas: Zero Hour pre-show. The animosity between the two sides stems from that very event. In the opening match of the Zero Hour pre-show, Trent Beretta was part of The Don Callis Family team that was defeated in a multi-man tag team match by a team that included Big Boom AJ, Hologram, Kyle O’Reilly, and Tomohiro Ishii.
AEW Full Gear has been a cornerstone of the company’s “big four” pay-per-view lineup since its inaugural event in 2019. The show has a history of hosting memorable matches, including the “I Quit” match between Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston in 2020 and the AEW World Championship match between “Hangman” Adam Page and Kenny Omega in 2021.
