Thekla has travelled to London with the AEW roster ahead of All In: London, according to Fightful Select. The same report says there is no update on what she will be doing at the show.
Thekla is not advertised for the card. She has not appeared on AEW television since losing the AEW Women’s World Championship to Willow Nightingale at AEW Redemption on July 26 in Montreal, a match in which Skye Blue attempted to interfere on Thekla’s behalf before Nightingale won the title with a backslide. Thekla held the championship for 165 days.
Her absence from the Wembley Stadium card came up on the AEW All In media call on Thursday Tony Khan called Thekla “a tremendous, tremendous wrestler,” said she has been a great champion and remains at the forefront of his mind, and told fans to stay tuned because he would expect to see her back very soon. He pointed to the length of the card as the reason she is not on it and gave no indication of what is planned for her, either at All In or after it.
Khan said the main card is set at eight matches across a four-hour broadcast, with ticket sales approaching a $6 million live gate. He said there is still room for additions and that further announcements could come on Collision.
Thekla won the title from Kris Statlander in February and defended it against Jamie Hayter, Mina Shirakawa, Thunder Rosa and Starlight Kid before the Redemption loss. She debuted in AEW in June 2025 and is Austrian, which has been raised repeatedly by fans as a reason to expect her on a European stadium card.
There had been an internal push within AEW to work Thekla into the AEW Women’s World Championship match. Khan went with a singles match between Nightingale and Mercedes Mone instead.
That match has its own complication. Khan confirmed on the media call that Nightingale is dealing with a broken hand, that the injury happened on the day AEW was taping Dynamite and Collision, and that it forced him to change plans he had for her. He said she will wrestle at All In with the injury and defend the championship against Mone.
Nightingale’s year has already been shaped by injury once. She vacated the TBS Championship and withdrew from this year’s Owen Hart tournament with a shoulder problem, returned as a surprise entrant in a number one contenders Casino Gauntlet, and beat Thekla three weeks later to win the AEW Women’s World Championship for the first time in her career.
Being in the city is not confirmation of anything. AEW routinely brings talent to its stadium shows who do not appear on the broadcast, and no segment or match involving Thekla has been announced. Other names are expected in London without being on the card. WrestleVotes reported on Fightful Select that two sources believe Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods are AEW-bound and that people within the company expect them to debut at the show, while noting there is no confirmation that it happens on Sunday.
Khan was asked about returns and debuts more than once on the call and gave the same answer each time, including on Britt Baker. He said he has always told people to stay tuned when asked about anyone coming back or debuting, and that the same applies here.
What that leaves is a former champion who is in the country, is not booked, and has a promoter publicly saying she will be back soon without saying when. The buy-in show carries a trios match that Khan has said could still take on additions, and he has left the main card open to further announcements as well.
AEW All In: London takes place on Sunday, August 30 at Wembley Stadium in London, England.
