Former WWE star Alberto Del Rio is looking to sign with a major promotion now that his sexual assault/kidnapping case has been closed. As previously noted, the case was dropped after a key witness (believed to be the alleged victim) did not appear in court.
Del Rio did interviews last week and claimed that several major promotions are interested. It has been reported on multiple occasions that the major promotions in the United States are not interested but Del Rio is claiming otherwise and he says he’s had talks with people in AEW.
Del Rio said, “Yes, that’s possible. I’ve been talking to a lot of people and just like I said earlier, I know everybody, they’re all talking about it and they saw what happened and they know it wasn’t fair for me, my career and my life so they are all going to be giving me an opportunity so it’s just a matter of time for me and them to put something together and decide where we’re going to go.”
Del Rio has made similar claims in the past about WWE and sources within WWE have denied having any interest. Del Rio is booked for shows in Puerto Rico but thus far, there has been no public indication that WWE, AEW, or Impact Wrestling have intentions of signing him.
