The in-ring career of a wrestler doesn’t last forever, no matter who you are or how big of a name you’ve become. Some wrestlers step away from wrestling for good, while others transition into other roles, including being a producer/coach.
Chris Hero made a name for himself on the independent wrestling scene and in ROH as he was part of The Kings of Wrestling tag team with Claudio Castagnoli, better known as WWE star Cesaro. They won the ROH Tag Team Titles twice.
Hero had his first stint with WWE from 2011-2013. He returned in 2016 for his second run, where he was used in NXT in addition to working for the NXT UK brand. He was released in April 2020 due to budget cuts.
Hero was reportedly backstage at the AEW Collision debut two weeks ago in Chicago, working with the company on a trial basis as a producer/coach.
