Former WWE/TNA Star Is Backstage Visiting At AEW Dynamite

Monty Brown, the powerhouse known to TNA fans as “The Alpha Male” and to WWE fans as Marcus Cor Von, was backstage visiting at tonight’s AEW Dynamite taping in Detroit, Michigan.

The sighting was confirmed via the official X (formerly Twitter) account associated with Jeff Jarrett’s “My World” podcast, which posted a photo this evening showing Jarrett reuniting with his longtime friend Brown at the Masonic Temple Theatre, the venue for tonight’s show. The caption read: “#TheLastOutlaw and The Alpha Male! @RealJeffJarrett catching up with @TheMontyBrown in Detroit! #MyWorld”.

The appearance is notable as Brown, 54, has largely been away from the professional wrestling spotlight since retiring in 2007. A former NFL linebacker for the Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots, Brown transitioned to wrestling and became a prominent main event star for TNA Wrestling in the mid-2000s, known for his intense charisma and signature finishing move, The Pounce. He later had a run with WWE on their ECW brand as Marcus Cor Von before stepping away from the ring due to family reasons.

The visit occurring in Detroit holds significance as Brown is a native of the city and played college football nearby at Ferris State University. Jeff Jarrett, AEW’s Director of Business Development, worked closely with Brown during their shared time in TNA.

Brown now works as a personal trainer. While backstage visits can sometimes precede future appearances, there is currently no indication that Brown’s presence tonight was for anything more than visiting friends at the AEW event in his hometown.
