Free Agent Former WWE Star Expected To Sign With AEW

Another former WWE star is about to become All Elite, the latest free agent signing by Tony Khan.

That star is Ricochet, whom WWE removed from the active roster page on WWE.com and moved to the alumni section on Sunday. Ricochet wrapped up his time on WWE TV last month before he departed from the promotion.

He was written off the television when he was tossed into a WWE production truck and smashed through the windshield of a car by Bron Breakker, with WWE later noting Ricochet suffered multiple upper body injuries and will be out of action for an undisclosed amount of time.

While with the company, he was a former WWE Intercontinental Champion, WWE United States Champion, NXT North American Champion, the 2019 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, and the inaugural WWE Speed Champion. He signed with the company in 2018.

Fightful Select reported that Ricochet’s deal with the company officially expired at midnight on July 1, and he’s a free agent. This is why he was not contractually able to appear at the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door show.

Fightful’s report mentioned sources in both WWE and AEW who expect him to go to AEW. Ricochet is not planned to face Will Ospreay at All In, at least as of recent weeks. That could change, though. Ricochet’s wife, Samantha Irvin, is expected to continue with WWE.

This is just a snippet of the story. For complete details, please visit Fightful Select at Patreon.com/Fightful.
