FTR got heat from AEW locker room for appearing on Jim Cornette’s podcast

Don’t hold your breath if you are expecting to see Jim Cornette pop up on AEW programming as the manager of FTR or anyone else.

Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler were interviewed by Kenny McIntosh for Inside The Ropes and Harwood revealed that people in the AEW locker room were not happy about them going on Jim Cornette’s podcast a few weeks ago. This was their first major interview since they left WWE and they talked about wanting to bring some more traditional tag team wrestling elements to AEW.

“It’s funny that you mention Jim Cornette because we did the Jim Cornette podcast and man the next day that we walked into the … actually the hotel, where all the AEW wrestlers were staying.” Wheeler said there was an awkward silence at the hotel.

Harwood continued, “so awkward. They were all so mad at us because we did Jim Cornette’s podcast and that’s okay with us, we don’t care. If we make friends, we make friends and we have made a few. If they want to get mad at us because we’re trying to make AEW a better place and make it more money then we welcome that.”

Unless this is some sort of super-secret elaborate work, don’t bet on seeing Cornette on AEW TV. Tony Khan has said that he was a fan of Smoky Mountain Wrestling but Cornette has repeatedly ripped AEW and has had a lot of derogatory things to say about several people in the company including The Young Bucks, Kenny Omega, Sonny Kiss, Joey Janela and others.
