FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) successfully defended their AEW World Tag Team Championships against The Bang Bang Gang (Juice Robinson and Austin Gunn) in the main event of AEW Dynamite. The match concluded with a controversial sequence involving a reversed referee decision.
Match Recap
The challengers, accompanied by manager Stokely Hathaway, utilized tactical distractions early in the bout. Hathaway, who had an altercation with a fan at ringside prior to the bell, created an opening for Wheeler to land a cheap shot and allow FTR to isolate Austin Gunn.
Following a commercial break, Juice Robinson received the hot tag, delivering spinebusters to both champions. The Bang Bang Gang appeared to have the match won after executing a Power-Plex, though Wheeler broke up the pinfall attempt, landing on his own partner in the process.
The Finish
The climax of the match saw The Bang Bang Gang counter FTR’s signature Shatter Machine. They hit a combination Left Hand of God and Fame-Asser on Dax Harwood. Robinson covered the champion, and the referee counted to three, leading Robinson and Gunn to celebrate with the title belts.
However, referee Paul Turner waved off the result after noticing Harwood’s foot was on the bottom rope during the pinfall. Amidst the confusion and restart, Wheeler executed a chop block on Robinson’s leg. Harwood then applied an inverted figure-four leglock while Wheeler prevented Gunn from re-entering the ring. Robinson tapped out, securing the submission victory for FTR.
